Episode 2-14 Kawabunga

Welcome back!

In the first period this week we discuss the Flames first week post all-star break. Two blown third period leads, two different shooutout results, two fights, a score settled, a bat toss in hockey, and a new score to settle between old rivals?

In the second period we discuss the skills competition and the all-star games.

In the third period we talk about American bubble teams and give an update on the wildcard playoff picture in the East and West.

Thanks for listening!

Episode 2-13 And Now We Wait

Welcome back listeners!

Are you feeling bored without much NHL hockey and no Flames games to talk about? Give us a listen as we recap a really mediocre last week of games heading into the CBA mandated break and All-Star weekend. We talk about a distracted showing in Montreal, a good tilt with some great goaltending in the Big Smoke, and then a bizarre fiasco in Ottawa.

Of course, we have to weigh in on the Tkachuk vs. Kassian controversy. We welcome any feedback if you agree or disagree with our takes.

In the second period, we do an NHL round-up and talk coaching changes, the Columbus Blue Jackets, the All-Star games and much more!

In the third period (and let’s face it, also a bit in the first period – we can be a tough pair to keep focused sometimes) we talk about buyers and sellers among the Canadian teams. A lot of Northern teams are still in the mix so listen to our thoughts on which direction they will go and also which direction they should go.

Finally in Overtime we give the Calgary Flames forward, defence, and goaltending units a grade at the break.

Enjoy!

Episode 2-12 Can the dad’s attend every game?

Welcome back after a long layoff!

In this episode we review how the Flames did over the past few weeks. It’s been up and down (just like the rest of the season). We talk goaltending and more!

Periods 2 and 3 include a discussion of the current state of the west and the east respectively.

Finally in overtime we make picks for our dream trade scenarios and then actual realistic possibilities (lots of Predators picks in this part).

Enjoy!

Episode 2-11 Strength Comes From The Struggle

Welcome back listeners!

This week we discuss a frustrating three games for the Flames. A good win against the Leafs followed by a strange pair of games where they dominate the first period and then blew both games despite playing alright.

We also talk about news from around the NHL, Austin Czarnik, and Flames drafts gone by inspired by a great blog by The Win Column. https://thewincolumn.ca/2019/12/17/where-are-they-now-a-look-back-at-the-flames-draft-picks-this-decade/

Episode 2-10 When You’re Hot, You’re Hot

Welcome back listeners!

This week in period one, we review an excellent week full of points and wins for the boys in Red. With wins against the Sabres, Kings, Avalanche, and Coyotes, they have forced themselves back into the race for the Pacific Division crown. We talk about the forward line blender and ponder about what difference Coach Ward has made.

In period two, we discuss the NHL’s attempt to assist with a culture shift within hockey. We complain about people who complain about things. Then we touch on the Detroit Red Wings who amazingly have not won a game in 12.

In the third period we talk about the future of the NHL participation in best on best international tournaments. A World Cup of Hockey in 2021 is out, but could we see the best play in the Olympics in 2022? We also disagree about gimmick teams like Team World and Team North America (Under 23 stars).

Finally in overtime, Andy is challenged to name the other five active players who join Milan Lucic as players with 200+ goals and 1000+ PIMs.

Enjoy and let us know what you think!
