This week in the first period we discuss a big, disappointing week for the Flames who went 1-2-1. Games against Washington, Florida and Carolina are broken down as well as the Heritage Classic game against the Winnipeg Jets. We also talk about the Flames forward lines, which have been in a blender since Czarnik went down with an injury.
In period 2, we talk news and notes around the NHL. There have been a number of significant injuries and we are talking some of the elite players around the league as well as a major signing in Nashville.
Period 3 involves a closer look at two teams that NHL fans may be a bit surprised to see near the top of their divisions after the first bit of the season. Arizona sits in 3rd in the Pacific and are looking strong and the New York Islanders are carrying on from last year’s surprised season in the Metro Division.
In this week’s episode we return to our three period format.
1st Period: We discuss the Flames performance on draft day. They made 4 picks, including 4 forwards and a goalie. We give our thoughts on the picks and the rumours that were floating around regarding the Flames goaltending options.
2nd Period: We talk about other teams and what they did at the Draft including Carolina, Colorado, and Anaheim. Next we talk about some of the big trades that went down during draft weekend including Subban and Marleau changing addresses.
3rd Period: Lastly we round up more rumours from around the league as well as trades that have taken place following the Stanley Cup Final.
Welcome back listeners! Another week of playoff hockey has taken place and there is a lot to talk about. In this episode, we discuss all of the series in round two, some free agents who have now completed their contracts, and we give our thoughts on the Eastern Conference Final which we now know will feature the Boston Bruins and Carolina Hurricanes.
We also tackle the coaching hires in Philadelphia -three head coaches on one bench?- along with some executive movement involving the Detroit Red Wings and the Edmonton Oilers.
Hello listeners! We are back after a bit of a layoff. Apologies for the extended absence. Unfortunately, our plan to pick back up and follow the Flames after our vacations was upended by the unceremonious defeat of the Flames at the hands of the Avalanche.
We are back now for a post-mortem. The regular season was certainly a success, but there are questions to discuss about the make up of this team after a very disappointing showing in the playoffs.
We talk about the season, the playoffs, and the future. Lots to dig into, so please enjoy!
