Hello Listeners! We are back with another playoff episode. We take some time to review the Bruins-Hurricanes sweep, talk a little bit about Tuukka Rask, and the Bruins top line. We also reflect on the Hurricanes season and their outlook going forward.
Next we talk about the Sharks-Blues series. There was the outrageous hand pass leading to an OT goal, but that seemed to turn things around for the Blues who took over the series after that point.
Finally, we talk about the Stanley Cup Final matchup and make our predictions for who is going to win it all.
Hello listeners! This week we review two game 7’s that determined the current Eastern and Western conference finals. A double-OT thriller in St. Louis and more controversial reffing in a playoffs that does not need any more of it.
Next we talk about the St. Louis Blues vs the San Jose Sharks and make our predictions in a series that looks like it could go either way. The Boston Bruins vs Carolina Hurricanes series is shaping up to be a one-sided affair but you know the saying that “you’re not in trouble until you lose at home”, which is great news for the Hurricanes who likely have the loudest fans in the league.
Finally we talk about the coaching rumor in Buffalo involving Ralph Kreuger who has the strangest coaching resume around and a fun sideshow in the World Championships where all eyes seem to be on Jack Hughes and Kappo Kakko.
We had fun with this one and we hope you enjoy it!
Welcome back listeners! Another week of playoff hockey has taken place and there is a lot to talk about. In this episode, we discuss all of the series in round two, some free agents who have now completed their contracts, and we give our thoughts on the Eastern Conference Final which we now know will feature the Boston Bruins and Carolina Hurricanes.
We also tackle the coaching hires in Philadelphia -three head coaches on one bench?- along with some executive movement involving the Detroit Red Wings and the Edmonton Oilers.
In part 2 of this week’s podcast we return to talking about the rest of the NHL. We review the many surprising outcomes of Round 1, including some pretty terrible predictions by our hosts.
Then we move on to Round 2, which has been great viewing so far. We make some predictions on where things will go from here (you may want to place your bets opposite to ours) and talk about the series’ so far.
As usual, the first period consists of a review of the Flames week. Down 2-1 in the series to a very strong looking Avalanche team, we discuss what has gone and what has gone right so far for the Flames. We have some praise for Mike Smith, some criticism of the first line, and some strong feelings on the performances of Brodie and Neal so far.
In the second period we discuss the four series in the Eastern conference. Tampa’s in trouble (thanks in part to Matt Duchene who host Jim has always praised and knew he would be great in the playoffs), the Islanders are rolling, the Hurricanes make a stand on home turf for the first time in a decade, and the Leafs and Bruins series has been the battle we were all hoping for.
We return to the Western conference in the third period. Winnipeg has come back to life against the Blues and at least one of our hosts think they will take it. The Knights and Sharks are having a great series which we hope will go to seven games (for a few reasons). Lastly, the Predators and Stars are in a closer battle than we were expecting.
In overtime, we discuss the hiring of Alain Vignault in Philly, a mysterious injury to Lucic, McDavid’s recovery, and finally some respect is given to a player who has risen above expectations in the playoffs so far.
Hey Listeners! This week we spend a good chunk of the episode discussing the Flames return to the playoff against the Colorado Avalanche. We talk goalies, top lines, line up depth, and review the head-to-head games from this season.
Next we go through every other first round series and provide some stats, some head-to-head numbers, and our predictions for each and every match up.
Finally in overtime we talk a bit about the coach firings in Buffalo and Florida as well as the impending return of Coach Q.
Please enjoy and have a great time watching the playoffs!
In this week’s episode, we reflect on the week that was for the Flames, including a return of their offense, a couple of dominant games from the Flames stars, and a setback in Winnipeg.
Next, we take a quick tour around the league and discuss the latest in Tampa Bay after they impressively clinched the President’s trophy with plenty of games left. We also discuss the Oilers and whether Leafs fans should be concerned over porous defensive play.
Then we talk about reffing around the NHL this season and if performances have slipped.
Finally in Overtime, we talk about Joel Quenville and where he might land in his coaching return. Enjoy!
